WORTHWHILE WORK
Being part of an organisation like CSW HK continues to be a pleasure, as well as an honour. CSW HK is involved in such worthwhile work, and has really wonderful staff, volunteers and contacts. Thanks to them, what we do remains fresh - new things happen every year. CSW HK is full of pleasant surprises. Our supporters have been more generous than ever before. We remain a small, low-cost organisation, but are able to provide assistance to many overseas Christians who are suffering for their faith.
The last year has seen CSW HK continue to build contacts with more Christians throughout Asia. This was helped by more contact with Chinese organizations and churches, and the regular release of our Chinese-language weekly summaries and Chinese version of our website. In addition we have hosted the International Partners’ Meeting and Conference, and developed close working relationships with other Christian organisations such as The Vine Christian Fellowship. We are particularly grateful to The Vine for their generous provision of their centre for the Conference.
Other highlights of the year were establishing contacts with experts on the situation in North Korea, maintaining an information flow with Burmese refugees in Malaysia, and also with human rights advocates elsewhere in Asia. We have continued to maintain good relations with English and Chinese speaking churches in HK, as well as with churches of a variety of nationalities (Nepal, Pakistan, Filipinos) who have a heart for the persecuted and oppressed.
The number of oppressed Christians in the world is still far too high, and the level of the oppression unacceptable in this 21st century.
CSW HK believes that advocacy and prayer are the only effective means of seeing an improvement.
